Dumbass Sayings: “I Don’t Always Drink Beer, But When I Do I Prefer Dos Equis”
In the new famous Dos Equis beer commercials, The Most Interesting Man in the World says “I don’t always drink beer, but when I do, I prefer Dos Equis.” That’s great, it’s become a famous ad campaign, but the whole point of it is completely ridiculous. Why the hell would I take beer advice from someone who isn’t that crazy about beer? It’s like someone saying “I don’t always kill people, but here’s the murder weapon I’d use.” Yeah no thanks. Now if it were OJ Simpson giving out advice I might take it, but I’m not going to listen to someone who is attempting to distance himself from the product he’s selling. He says “I don’t always drink beer” like he’s above it or something. It’s like saying “I don’t always have sex, but here’s the escort service I like to call.” I don’t really see how that makes you a credible endorser of a thing. Since they’re running out of ridiculous claims to make about him on the commercials I think they should add a new one that says “He always drinks beer, literally ALWAYS.” That would actually be an achievement. If you drank beer every second of the day and could somehow live that would be very impressive. Instead he claims to do the opposite of that so there is one unimpressive, uninteresting thing about him and it just so happens to be his main catchphrase.
