When people eat something they’re enjoying they sometimes say “Nom nom nom.” This is fun to do when you’re alone, but you should never say this when you’re eating in public. The reason is, you never know when there might be a military veteran around. “Nom nom nom” sounds basically exactly like “Nam Nam Nam” and of course “Nam” is a nickname for “Vietnam” that was very popular around the time of the Vietnam War. It was a truly horrific war that left a lot of veterans with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. These men who served our country to try and stop the spread of Communism in Southeast Asia. Now I know that sentence doesn’t make much sense, but STILL… They were fighting as American soldiers and that’s all that matters. So many veterans from that war were disgraced by this country and now damn near forty years later they’re trying to enjoy a meal at Denny’s and there your dumbass goes yelling “NOM NOM NOMMMM!!!” They hit the deck because you just triggered a memory of some Vietnamese teenage girl throwing a grenade at them and you laugh because you have no idea what the hell those people have gone through. It’s just an omelette. Relax. You’re not the freaking Cookie Monster. He’s pretty much the only one who should be allowed to say “Nom nom nom” while eating. If you’re a human doing that you need to stop.
