If a picture is worth a thousand words then what is a movie worth? Did you ever wonder that? -- Gabrielle from Florida
Dear Gabrielle:
Movies or “motion pictures” are basically just many pictures shown in rapid succession. The industry standard for filming movies is 24 frames per second. Each individual frame is a picture. Most feature films are anywhere from between 70 and 210 minutes long. So let’s say the average movie is 140 minutes long, That’s 8,400 seconds. When we multiply that by 24 it equals 201,600. If the average movie contains 201,600 pictures and 1 picture is worth 1,000 words all we have to do is multiply 201,600 by 1,000 and we find out that the average movie is worth 201,600,000 words.
