Dumbass Sayings: “Nine One One”

For some reason there are still people who refer to 9/11 as “9-1-1.” This may have been somewhat acceptable shortly after the events of 9/11/2001, but as more time passes it’s harder to associate 9/11 with 9-1-1 since 9-1-1 is the American emergency services number. 9-1-1 is dialed thousands of times every day meanwhile 9/11 is thought about much less than that. When you say 9-1-1 these days nearly no one thinks 9/11, they think about the phone number. Even back in 2001 this was a stupid thing to say. If you refer to 9/11 as 9-1-1 you should refer to other dates in a similar fashion. Would these people refer to Halloween as “ten three one” or Christmas as “twelve two five”? Those sounds ridiculously stupid, yet somehow “nine one one” is okay? It’s not okay. It’s also in poor taste if it’s meant to be a pun. Are these people thinking “Oh I’ll call it 9-1-1 since so many people had to dial 9-1-1 from inside the World Trade Center that day!” That’s sick and ridiculous. People need to stop this shit.
