This was a very controversial ad at the time because it featured a man raising his son without a mother. Borden assumed people would purchase more milk because they felt bad for Peter Graves and his boy. It may have worked if so many weren’t disturbed by the character of Uncle Jethro that seemed oddly creepy and ruined the whole vibe.
