When your mother leaves you outside the house to sleep on the lawn during a lightning storm they call that “tough love.” Let me tell you something, there is no such thing as tough love. Tough love is just something people say when they’re doing awful things to people they’re supposed to be caring for. The way you can tell there’s no such thing as tough love is no one ever shows tough love to babies. If you show “tough love” to a baby that’s considered child abuse. That’s because babies are things you have to truly love and care for properly. As people get older, the more able they are to be treated like crap. The older people get, the less love and care they require to be able to live. “Tough love” is just a word for justified abuse. “Tough” and “love” are almost antonyms so when you put them together that makes an oxymoron. So the next time you hear someone talking about how they’re showing their infant child some “tough love” it might be time to call social services.
Tough love can often be misconstrued as severe physical abuse. |
