Dumbass Sayings: “A Picture Is Worth A Thousand Words”

This photo says about two words:
"I'm old."

First of all, what does “A picture is worth a thousand words” even mean? Does it mean you can trade in a picture to someone for a thousand words? Are pictures like tickets at Chuck E. Cheese? No one’s redeeming pictures for words, so it must mean that a picture SAYS a thousand words.

Pictures can certainly say a lot, but it really depends on the picture. A picture of a fire hydrant doesn’t say a thousand words, but a picture of your wife sleeping with your grandfather might. Something like that might even say MORE than a thousand words.

But saying and being worth a certain number of words doesn’t equate to actual words. If that was true then you could look at 1,000 nude celebrity photos daily and claim to read a million words per day. I guess that would make me a speed reader. Unfortunately that’s not true. It’d be nice, but it’s simply not true.
