Dumbass Sayings: “Comfort Food”

For some reason people refer to certain foods as “Comfort foods.”This is a completely ridiculous phrase. The whole idea of food in general is to be comforting. Starving is the epitome of discomfort so therefore eating has to be considered a comfort. If you’re eating and it’s not comfortable then you’re doing something wrong. What isn’t a comfort food? A pineapple with the skin still on? A raw pumpkin? Turnips? Dog meat? Chocolate covered ants? Those are a few foods that could be considered non-comfort foods, which means every other food known to man could be considered a “Comfort food.” And technically the definition of a “comfort food” is “Traditionally eaten food which often provides a nostalgic or sentimental feeling to the person eating it.” So technically if you’re a cannibal, human flesh could be considered a comfort food. “Comfort food” is basically a meaningless term that just means “one of your favorite foods.” It has no reason to exist.

Even mealworm larvae are considered a comfort food in certain areas of the globe.
