Today, President Obama’s Director of the Secret Service, Julia Pierson gave her resignation to U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson. Secretary Johnson’s grandfather was Charles S. Johnson, an American sociologist. While on a League of Nations mission to Liberia, Charles S. Johnson’s life was saved by a Liberian chief (documented in the book Bitter Canaan: The Story of the Negro Republic Transaction Books.) Jeh Johnson’s unusual first name (pronounced “Jay”) came from that Liberian chief. Liberia is currently in the grips of an Ebola outbreak. Just a day ago, September 30th, 2014, the first uncontrolled case of Ebola brought to America had been confirmed. Ebola is one of the largest threats to Homeland Security that currently exists. And that was today’s fun fact!
It's no SECRET that this might be a scene in American hospitals someday soon. |
