This phrase refers to how if leaders don’t know what’s going on they can’t lead properly. That’s what it’s supposed to mean, but it’s also a pretty offensive dig at the visually impaired. To correlate ignorance with visual impairity is just flat out wrong. And by the way, blind people are capable of leading other blind people. Blind people are capable of leading anyone even the sighted. How do you think blind people get around? They lead themselves around with those tappy canes. Some even use echolocation like bats and dolphins. Heck, dogs have no idea what’s going on yet they’re frequently leading the blind. That’s like the blind leading the blind and it works out great for everyone. Now if it were “The dumb leading the dumb” then that might illustrate a much more dire situation.
