I see on the news the blood moon is happening. What is happening here? Is the Moon having its period? Does this mean that the Man in the Moon was really a woman this whole time? -- Chester from Dallas, Texas

Dear Chester:

No, despite what some people say the Moon is not having its period. It doesn’t mean the end of the world is coming to happen. The blood moon is not going to turn your vagina into a werewolf. The Moon isn’t going to go through PMS and crash into Earth. There is no actual blood on the Moon. The red light that you see comes from the lunar eclipse because the Moon has moved into the shadow of Earth. Sunlight passes through the Earth’s atmosphere and colors the Moon red. That’s all it is. It’s just an optical illusion.
