When people are publicly displaying their social unrest in big groups they often chant “No justice! No peace!” This basically means “If you don’t give us what we want, we will riot.” The problem is it’s becoming readily apparent that rioting achieves nothing. All it does is serve to further damage a community and make everything worse. This has led to the majority of protests these days being peaceful events. The issue now is if you’re protesting peacefully, you can’t say “No justice, no peace.” If you chant that then you’re just yelling empty threats which leads to people paying even less attention to your cause. Obviously no one wants things to get violent and not peaceful, so it’s better to just not use that as a chant. Chant something else that doesn’t force you into rioting. When you say “No justice no peace” it kinda funnels a crowd into violence. The people realize they’re yelling things that they’re not really delivering on and it’s only a matter of time before someone feels the need to act on what’s being yelled and start off the “no peace” part. It’s basically like chanting “Give us what we want or we’ll destroy ourselves.” If no one cares, you’re fucked either way and you may as well be protesting in an isolation chamber with no one watching.
