Dumbass Sayings: “I Think, Therefore I Am”

Sayings like this are what's
going to give the robots
confidence to destroy us all.
The French philosopher Rene Descartes once said “Je pense, donc je suis” or “Cogito ergo sum” which in English means “I think, therefore I am.” This is a questionable proposition for one big reason. There is a possibility, however improbable, that human life as we know it is a computer simulation created by god or computers or computer gods. If that’s the case then their simulation is clearly elaborate enough to allow the fake characters to process their own thoughts (or at least thoughts they believe are theirs). That would make us “artificial intelligence” and maybe what Descartes was saying is the fact we can question existence at all means we exist even if we are just artificial intelligence, but if that’s the case who cares? When I think of existing I like to think existence means real flesh and blood. If we’re a series of ones and zeroes in an alien’s computer then that’s not real existence. That’s existing in the way a video game exists, but it’s not true existence in the way we humans view existing philosophically. The point is, we have no way of truly telling anything which is the reason math and science isn’t 100% law and people can still believe in crazy shit and still be given the benefit of the doubt. We simply don’t know anything for sure with 100% certainty. Aliens could show up tomorrow, probe everyone’s anuses in anti-gravity sex slave chambers and change every single thing we ever thought we knew about the universe. It’s possible. The question is, will you truly be existing when that probe goes up your ass?
