Ask McFartnuggets: “How Come In ‘Home Alone’ Kevin Doesn’t Just Call The Cops?”

Kevin didn't want the
death penalty.
Dear McFartnuggets:
How come in the movie “Home Alone” Kevin McAllister doesn’t just call the cops when the robbers are trying to break into his house and kill him? Wouldn’t just one simple phone call have solved that whole problem? Why didn’t the robbers account for this as a possibility? They knew the kid was there so why wouldn’t they assume he would call the cops? --  Cathy from Burbank, California

Dear Cathy:
For starters, it’s Kevin McCallister. And he couldn’t have called the cops because if you remember, he was an outlaw for having shoplifted a toothbrush from a local store. Clearly he couldn’t have called the cops because then he would have been arrested and put on death row. His only logical course of action was to turn his home into a house of elaborate traps and horrors for the criminal intruders. Thanks for the question, Cathy!
