Dear McFartnuggets:
How come February is Black History Month? Is it because February is the shortest month? Shouldn’t it be better for February to be Midget History Month? How come March isn’t Black History Month? They could call it Civil Rights March! Get it? -- Chester from Sioux Falls, South Dakota
Dear Chester:
First off, the appropriate term is “Human of stagnated verticality” not the M-word. And secondly, yes “Civil Rights March” sounds fun, but there’s actually a symbolism behind why February is Black History Month. The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People was founded on February 12, 1909. Also, Abraham Lincoln was born on February 12. Since he did the whole Emancipation Proclamation thing that makes sense. The fact that it’s the shortest month is merely an unfortunate and unplanned coincidence.
If Black History Month was a person it would probably be Emmanuel Lewis. |
Write your questions to PizzaTesticles@yahoo.com and I will try to answer them as quickly as possible. Also please cool it with the M-word. I know it’s the not the N-word, but it doesn’t have to be to be offensive.
