|Or you could fix the brakes.|
When you fail at something usually a middle aged woman will walk up to you and say with a smile on her face “If at first you don’t succeed, try try again!” Yeah that sounds fun and cheerful, but what if you just attempted suicide and failed? Basically what this lady is telling you is to try try again. Not just try again, TRY TRY again. That means two more attempts in rapid succession which I’m sure would actually work. This is horrible advice to give to someone. I mean at least they didn’t say “try try try again”, but still. Sometimes there’s an important stage after failure where you need to reassess things and figure out why you failed. You don’t just rush back into trying over and over again. Sometimes life requires you to be more thoughtful. This is bad advice even if you’re just asking a coworker out on a date and she keeps turning you down. At a certain point try try again leads to sexual harassment charges, unemployment, and a restraining order. Thanks for the advice!
